Plus: The tweakments midlife men can’t get enough of and why you might want to rethink your pension
| | | By Lucia Ferrari COMMISSIONING BEAUTY EDITOR | | It’s so refreshing when a fresh faced celebrity admits to having some sort of cosmetic help instead of saying the reason they are looking so fabulous is just down to tantric breathing, drinking gallons of mushroom tea or giving up booze.
So I raise a glass to Bette Midler in my article for recently admitting on the red carpet that the reason she looks so wonderful at 77 is because she’s had a little ‘face tailoring’ done. What a brilliant phrase this is as it implies a little tucking and stitching without actually spelling anything out. Alice Hart Davis, founder of The Tweakments Guide, gives her opinion on what she thinks the actor may have had done. Although, as we both conclude, it’s none of our business, it is nonetheless refreshing when celebrities admit to having work done - particularly when it’s done so well. So often people presume that if you step near a needle or a scalpel, it will result in strange looking features but Midler is an example of finding the right practitioner and looking great after the treatment.
Talking of needles, I also chatted this week to two of the UK’s leading aesthetic doctors about the rise of men booking in for cosmetic tweaks in their lunchtimes. Apparently there’s a 70% increase in men booking the likes of Botox and treatments like jawline filler - the rise of tweak-man is definitely a thing. Not sure his and hers tweaks would happen just yet in my house however, as I can barely get my husband to use a moisturiser but never say never.
