If, like me, you’ve given up waiting for spring to arrive before you start wearing lighter clothes you’ve probably contemplated skirts, which have made a convincing comeback on the catwalks lately, especially pencil skirts.

They might sound daunting, but there’s a shape for every body – from high waisted and hourglass-accentuating to slouchier and hip skimming. The reward is something sophisticated yet easy for the day that can be easily switched up for a very polished evening look. Check out our guide here.

Alternatively, perhaps you’re exploring the wonderful world of white or cream trousers or flirting with bare ankles – and concluding it’s all just a bit too high maintenance.

The right white or cream trousers are an instant reviver. They’d better be washable though, or you’ll never want to sit down. A more user-friendly alternative that still has a glow-up effect is navy mixed with a lot of white (and some tan accessories)…classic but somehow always fresh. Perhaps if enough of us dress for spring we can actually manifest one.

Enjoy!

On Lisa's recommendation

Reiss’s navy high-rise trousers are just the kind of drape-y that works so well in summer – imagine them puddling over sandals, or brushing against strappy metallic heels.

The white stripe down the sides could be a bit of a cliche, but it’s ultra chic with the piped waistband. In short: the perfect dress-it-up-or-down staple. They come in white too – but the label says dry-clean only, so that’s probably a For Best option only. (£178, Reiss)
