BEAUTY EDITOR AT LARGE

As you’d expect, there were a few shocking beauty moments at the annual Met Gala on Monday night. Marion Cotillard accessorised her sparkly frock with a pink bob, Amber Valletta showed up with a mullet, while Florence Pugh shaved her hair into a buzz cut overshadowed (just) by a towering feather headpiece. And, let’s not forget Doja Cat channelling Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat Choupette for which she underwent an impressive prosthetic makeover.

But for the most part celebrities chose smoky eyes for their red carpet moment, and I know why. Dark, sultry eyeshadow is the most flattering make-up look for every age. That said, smoky eyes are tricky to get right. In my article I’ve shared the best application tips I’ve ever been told, including seven smoky eye products from the right blending brush to the palette with the best shades.

Switching gears, beauty columnist Jan Masters has written about how to find the right perfume for you, with sensible advice to save you from investing in a stinker.

On to nails, which if you adorn with care can elevate your entire look, as I've explored in the four golden rules to rich-girl nails, including three regal shades of polish. It is the Coronation weekend ahead after all.

Enjoy!
