By Annabel Jones,
BEAUTY EDITOR AT LARGE

I’ve often thought about what I would look like at my age without the skincare and makeup I’m given to try out as a beauty editor. I’d hate to think how my complexion would fare without the skin-brightening Balayage I have done every eight weeks. Tired and sad looking, I’m guessing. So imagine the surprise Alice Hart-Davis had when she was presented with an AI-powered software image that predicted how her face would appear – without the £100,000 worth of tweakments she’s been having over the past two decades. On the one hand, it’s a depressing contemplation. On the plus side, when you know, you know.

Speaking of knowing, Lucia has explored why French women look so good over 50. You see, while Parisians like the impeccably put together French actress, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, appear to have a laissez-faire attitude to ageing, they actually spend considerably more hours on their pampering rituals than we Brits do. While we are spending our pennies on our gardens (true fact) French women shell out for nail, hair, body and facial treatments weekly. As Lucia found out, “the effortless French aesthetic about appearing as natural as possible actually requires quite a lot of maintenance.”

In a nutshell, it’s your face or your roses. Either way, these French beauty essentials will help.

Enjoy!
Annabel
