Plus: Why grey hair has never looked so stylish and the health benefits of adding olive oil to your coffee
| | | By Lucia Ferrari, COMMISSIONING BEAUTY EDITOR | | Whether or not to go grey or continue dying your hair is one of those beauty questions that people often have strong opinions about. Some friends I know (and I must admit myself included) have staunchly said we will continue visiting the hairdresser for grey root “maintenance” ad infinitum instead of embracing a full head of grey hair. But watching the Baftas this week was a masterclass in showing how grey hair has never looked so youthful and stylish. Annabel Jones speaks to world renowned colourist Josh Wood (he famously took model Kristen McMenamy’s waist length tresses to silver a few years ago) and explains how Helen Mirren, Jamie Lee Curtis and actress Evangeline Lilly are leading the ”greynaissance”.
Another subject that divides a lot of us is tattoos – tacky mistakes from our youth or a bit of an edgy midlife accessory? Sarah Rodrigues’s piece describes how tattoos have become a surprise hit with midlifers and how the likes of Samantha Cameron, Angelina Jolie and yet again Helen Mirren (she has a tiny Mayan affirmation “in La’kesh” on her left hand) have made them almost as de rigueur as a nude court shoe.
More on my radar than a hand tattoo is one of the tried and tested skincare products for an overnight glow that Jan Masters has written about. A trip to the tattoo parlour no thanks, but waking up to glowy skin yes please!
