Looking for style inspo on TV? The best drama hands down right now is Happy Valley with the wonderful Sarah Lancashire and her equally stellar co-stars. But apart from James Norton’s chiselled jaw and the gorgeous Yorkshire scenery, it’s not really about the aesthetics. Portia’s Gen Z wardrobe in White Lotus? Maybe – if you’re 16.

But really, if you’re looking for some slinky inspiration on how to beat Gen Z at their own 1990s obsession, head to iPlayer for Tokyo Vice. It’s brilliant for many reasons – the plot, the film noir atmosphere, the fact that much of it is in Japanese. The American actors Anselm Elgort, son of Vogue photographer Arthur, and Rachel Keller both did a crash course in the language – and they’re impressive.

I’m equally transfixed by Keller’s outfits – a succession of liquid satin Calvin Klein-esque slip dresses. Note to self, step up those arm exercises. Speaking of chiselled jaws, read Annabel Jones on the latest celebrity beauty obsession – the buccal facelift, then check out our Golden Globes red carpet coverage to see whether you can spot any.

Enjoy!

On Lisa's recommendation

Tailored knits that look as smart as a jacket but feel cosy are the grail right now. This flattering merino wool style from The Fold is a dead ringer for Dior’s - and excellent quality. It’s also in the sale (£187 reduced from £375, The Fold).
