By Annabel Jones,
BEAUTY EDITOR AT LARGE

J-Lo may be flaunting skin as glowy as a sparkler, but we’re all wondering where our radiance has disappeared to – most likely in the same place as our joy, which has taken January off.

To help, beauty editor Lucia Ferrari has selected her favourite instant skin brighteners that will transform your dull January complexion, from the microneedling treatment that gave her skin a 2-month-long glow, to the luxury bronzing serum she believes is worth every penny.

The new year so often provides a jolt of courage, especially when it comes to hair. Not since the ‘Rachel’ has a haircut been as talked about as the wolf cut, a 2023 interpretation of the layered shag that Jane Fonda made iconic in the Oscar-winning thriller, Klute – which, incidentally has a 5-star rating on Rotten Tomatoes should you wish to stream it.

A cross-generation pleaser, the heavily-fringed hairstyle is both face-softening and edgy, but according to celebrity hairstylist, Larry King, the real sea change has been the reintroduction of layers, which can be incorporated into any hairstyle at any age.

I can’t say whether the wolf cut will suit you, but I do recommend introducing an element of fun back into your beauty routine, whether it’s a brave new hairstyle or a bright magenta lipstick. After all, there’s nothing like a dose of affordable glamour to spark joy.

Have a beautiful day,
Annabel
