By Lisa Armstrong,
HEAD OF FASHION

It’s that time of year when everyone thinks about clearing out their wardrobe, or feels guilty because they haven’t got round to it.

If you still haven’t summed up the energy, hold fire, at least until you’ve read Caroline Leaper. Caroline had a radical clear out last year after having her daughter Eva – and now regrets a few lost friends.

Anna Berkeley, a personal stylist who’s on The Telegraph Fashion Team’s collective speed dial encounters sellers’ remorse all too often and advised keeping a Maybe bag where you can put items you’re not sure about. Put it somewhere out of mind and revisit it in six months time. If you haven’t missed anything, away it goes. And when it comes to shopping for replacements, my tip is to stick to a minimal colour palette so that everything goes together.

Pelé’s death got more coverage last week than Vivienne Westwood’s, but she was just as much a force, albeit in a predominantly female field. From punk to princesses, tartan to tweed, she celebrated all that was British in a quintessentially British way – with oodles of attitude and mischief.

Enjoy!
Lisa

Angry and eccentric, yet deeply sensible – Vivienne Westwood was the quintessential British original

The grande dame's life was a wild a furious ride but her transition to national treasure was rooted in her extraordinary skill as a designer, writes Lisa Armstrong

On Lisa's recommendation

If you’re in the market for a new tote bag. All Saints have one that has oodles more dash than the average. Roomy too, and soft against the body, which matters (£269, All Saints)
