The Under-$100 Gap Sweatpant Jeans That Make the Perfect Gift |
I love the look of jeans, but not always the feel, especially in the winter when I'm freezing my a*s off. It's the classic dilemma: look stylish, or dress like you're wrapped in a warm hug. You probably know which way I lean.
So when Gap's Sweatpant Jeans popped up on my TikTok feed right after I complained about this exact problem, I had to try them. I've seen the viral Rag & Bone pair in the wild, but since they're over $200, Gap's under-$100 version felt like a no-brainer, even if the wash isn't quite as perfectly faded.
And since my opinion alone wasn't enough, I pulled in my colleague and friend Marisa Petrarca for a second take. Here are our honest thoughts. Marisa Petrarca, contributing editor (left): "These sweatpant jeans were just as dreamy on first wear as I imagined they'd be after seeing them all over TikTok. They're my safety net on days when I want to look like a person but still feel cozy and stylish. Truly, they're an optical illusion and look like regular wide-leg jeans. One word of warning before you order: they run very big, so consider sizing down one or even two sizes." Haley Lyndes, shopping staff writer (right): "There's no doubt the comfort is there. I did order two sizes too big, so ignore the fact that they're literally gliding on the floor, but that's on me, not the jeans. Even oversized, I still love them. I wouldn't wear them to dinner, but I absolutely wear them grocery shopping, to coffee shops, and anytime I want an effortless, baggy street-style look.
"I'm 5'8" and 130 pounds and ordered a tall small. In hindsight, I wish I'd gone with an XS regular, which I think would've been perfect. The waistband is soft, the fabric has real stretch, and they genuinely feel like sweatpants while still looking like jeans. If you size down, they're an easy yes." |
