Although your initial thought might be to boycott the retailer for failing to maintain support for Black-owned businesses, that strategy could have unintended consequences. "Pulling Black dollars from these retailers doesn't hurt the corporations as much as it hurts the brands you love," Maya Smith, founder of hair-care brand The Doux, wrote on Instagram. Of course, whether you choose to boycott Target or not, the fact remains that these Black-owned businesses need our support now more than ever.
