| | | By Lisa Armstrong Head of Fashion | | Why do so many people enjoy autumn dressing? Maybe it’s that wired-in back-to-school excitement. Perhaps some of us were lucky and didn’t face the wrath of our teachers. Even when the anxiety did get to us, a pleated skirt helped alleviate the tension.
And that’s the point. The right clothes make us look and feel confident. This season is particularly good: flattering shapes for everyone, whatever your age, some fresh ideas and a sophisticated palette of greens, browns and burgundy. None of us should have to rush out and buy into every trend, but a few well-chosen treats can make everything else look fresh.
This is a special time of year sartorially speaking – usually warm with beautiful red skies, but also cool enough to add layers and try out some different colours. As the high street has gotten its act together, here are my picks for the best autumnal styles, whatever your age.
