Head of Fashion | | | Victoria Beckham says turning 50 doesn’t bother her one iota. From the amount of publicity she’s given her mid-century on social media, I’m tempted to believe her.
Aging in the full glare of public scrutiny isn’t always easy if your career’s predicated on looks. Then again, 50 and northwards isn’t what it used to be. J Lo, Naomi Watts (sitting front row at Dior’s latest show in Brooklyn this week), Nicole Kidman, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sharon Stone… The list of women enjoying second and third acts grows all the time.
It will be interesting to see how Beckham handles the sartorial side. So far – the mini skirts and slip dresses – not your traditional mother-in-law fare, but she wears them well. And what celebs do today, the rest of us… Well, let’s see.
Talking of spicing things up a tad – have you considered the latest styling obsession with bright tights? They’re not as scary as you think. Some shades can be very chic and much more life enhancing this time of year than black. Now, when it’s still not quite warm enough to go bare-legged, is the time to try them.
