Plus: Over 50? Here’s how to style this season’s tricky trends
| | | By Annabel Jones Beauty Editor at Large | | The daffodils are blooming and the sun is threatening to stick around which means one thing: it’s time for a hair update – if only to have something to accessorise your spring wardrobe with.
If I was a betting type, I’d put my money on the bob; Gigi Hadid has had the chop, Rita Ora and Sydney Sweeney too. But the one on everyone’s moodboard this week is Emily Maitlis’s. The former Newsnight presenter has been characterised in Scoop, the Netflix drama starring Gillian Anderson as Maitlis who transformed her shoulder-length hair into a bob for the part.
Maitlis’s bob: chin-length and honey blonde, is a clever mix of steely and approachable, which leading hair stylists tell me is what gives it its charm. Find out more in my feature: ‘A haircut is never just a haircut’: the secrets behind Emily Maitlis’s ‘power’ bob.
Speaking of polish, Lucia Ferarri has written about the rising cost of nail treatments, begging the question: How much should you pay for a manicure? Plus, she talks to nail expert Leighton Denny for his tips on how to do it at home.
Enjoy!
