For her first state banquet Camilla selected items loaded with meaning and poignance

By Bethan Holt
FASHION DIRECTOR

The royal bling was out in force this week in Germany, where the King and Queen Consort were carrying out the first state visit of Charles’ reign.

There is an astounding array of treasures in the royal vaults, and Camilla brought out two pieces loaded with sentimental meaning for the occasion, as I wrote in this article. I particularly loved how her dazzling black and silver gown seemed to have been designed by Bruce Oldfield to really show off her historic jewels.

Elsewhere in spectacular fashion moments, I was transported to the magic of Mumbai by Lisa Armstrong’s fascinating piece about Dior’s show in India, which took place on Thursday evening.

She reminded me of Diana Vreeland’s observation that pink is the navy blue of India — the perfect shade to transport us to sunnier times as we await the arrival of spring.

Have a lovely weekend,

Bethan
