HEAD OF FASHION

I love a good apron. In grey or navy linen, or one of those stripy butcher’s jobs, they can be so chic. Or maybe you prefer something more festive, more novelty, more ho-ho-ho… Whatever you plump for on the day, Melissa Twigg and Jeremy Langlead have some tips on how to style out your Christmas day essential. Warning: Melissa’s lessons in apron wearing were honed while she worked as a waitress in Paris. They may involve sexing things up.

Speaking of all things Parisian – most of us are familiar with the city’s style tropes. But Morgane Sézalory, the French founder of cult label Sézane, which frequently has queues outside its branches in Paris, New York and London, thinks they’re finally changing. Less black, more colour. Not so skinny and severe and more forgiving and approachable. She should know – Sézane could be said to be part of the evolution.

What Sézalory loves best is when British style meets French – all of her favourite style muses, from Charlottes Rampling and Gainsbourgh to Jane Birkin, are franglais. At this rate, Emily in Paris might actually start to seem accurate. Read her tips for the ideal style marriage here.

Enjoy!
